5.1 was released with several performance improvements as well as a new UI w/ retina support for iPhone and iPad. Just swipe
the info bar left or right to change the display.
Unfortunately, a bug was also introduced and just caught. The app may crash when offline and panning outside the cached area. A bug fix is already on the way! Sorry for the inconvenience.

Several unexpected server changes hit us over the last couple of days, but things should be back to normal. Contact us as support@itopomaps.com if you’re
seeing anything suspect.
iTopoMaps v4.0 is was released today.. It handles server issues much more gracefully, as well as a few other minor improvements.

My Bad Elf External GPS Receiver arrived in the mail and it looks great! I’ll be following up with a full review after I put it through its paces, but initial impressions:
Pros:
- Tiny and lightweight
- Solid construction, made in the USA
- Quicker to lock (~40 seconds) w/ higher accuracy (10m horizontal and vertical)
- Works in Airplane Mode! Finally! Hopefully this will translate into some power savings as you can power down your cell radio when in the wilderness
- Works great with iTopoMaps!
- The sync/charge connector is a nice touch
Observations:
- Bad-Elf App could use more information on satellite locking and signal strengths.
- The Bad-Elf App always says “Server unreachable” for the Assisted GPS Data update.
